Helpful Resources at UC Davis that Help with Transitions
Educational Opportunity Program
-
Many students do not apply for admission to college because no one in their family has ever attended college or because college seems too expensive. The Educational Opportunity Program strives to improve the access, retention and graduation of students who have been historically disadvantaged, either socially or economically. EOP assists students by providing mentorship, academic programs, financial assistance, counseling/advising and other campus support services. EOP serves California residents from all ethnic backgrounds and Native American students from any state.
-
Through EOP, you may be eligible to have your admission application fees waived, orientation fees reduced and Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) deposit and/or Student Housing reservation fee deferred.
-
Once admitted, freshman EOP students are invited to participate in the Special Transitional Enrichment Program (STEP). The program begins in summer and continues through the first two academic years, offering preparatory course work, developing academic skills and providing advising. It helps students adjust academically and socially to the campus by strengthening their learning skills and study habits, and by providing an extensive orientation to campus life.
