Coming from Corrupted Neighborhoods
​The video you are about to watch is a series of interviews of individuals from the city of South Central Los Angeles. The video reveals the reality of what people go through when they grow up in communities like South Los Angeles. Many of the people who come from these communities are low income and experience obstacles that other well-off families do not have to experience. As a result, it makes it extremely difficult to focus on school when you are constantly facing financial burdens and trying to survive in the vicious streets of South Los Angeles. This is why Universities and Colleges need to target these individuals and provide them with extra help because most of our parents did not go to college, so as first generation college students we face challenges with the transition to college because our parents themselves are unfamiliar with the process of obtaining a higher education, so we are left to fend for ourselves. ​We are not used to be given a variety resources that help us, so we struggle in seeking help. We not only have to worry about our education, but also our safety and financial stability leading to having to juggle multiple things at once.
